KATHERINE MORICE

Eavesdropping

It’s raining
and you are name dropping.

A man stands
under the eaves
holding his hand out.

Marx, Pavlov,
Newton, Pythagoras.

A dog waits
with her head cocked,
calculating angles.

Gravity
drags water towards us

and your voice drags
on and on
until the pitch falls off.

“Doppler!”
I yell, over my shoulder.
